Your guide to Montréal and the RLC 2026 conference venue
Main Information
Conference venue:
RLC 2026 will be held at the Palais des congrès de Montréal (Montréal
Convention Centre), located in the heart of downtown Montréal at 1001 Place
Jean-Paul-Riopelle.
Airport transportation:
Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is approximately 20 km from downtown. The
747 Express Bus runs 24/7 between the airport and downtown Montréal
(Berri-UQAM station), with a fare of $11 CAD. Taxis have a flat rate of ~$41 CAD to
downtown. Uber and Lyft are also available.
Banquet:
A banquet dinner will be held on Wednesday, August 5th (6pm) at a venue to be announced.
Details will be shared closer to the conference date.
Venue Details
Location:
The Palais des congrès de Montréal is located at the intersection of the
Quartier International and Old Montréal, directly above Place-d'Armes metro station. It is
easily accessible by public transit and walking from most downtown hotels.
Poster printing:
Copies du
Centre and Staples/Bureau en Gros offer poster printing
services in downtown Montréal. We recommend placing your order ahead of time to ensure
availability.
Poster sizes:
Main conference: Max size is 6 ft wide × 4 ft tall, with a recommended
size of 4 ft wide × 3 ft tall or 3 ft wide × 4 ft tall. Workshops: Max size
is 3 ft wide × 4 ft tall.
City transportation:
Montréal has an excellent public transit system operated by the STM
(Société de transport de Montréal). The metro system has 4 lines, and the venue is directly
above Place-d'Armes station (Orange Line). A 3-day unlimited pass costs
$21.25 CAD. The BIXI
bike-sharing system is also a popular way to get around the city.
Wi-Fi access:
Complimentary Wi-Fi will be available throughout the conference venue. Eduroam is also
supported for participants with credentials from their home institutions.

Food Options
Conference-provided:
Breakfast will be provided at 8:30am from Tuesday to Saturday. Lunch will be provided at
12:30pm from Tuesday to Friday. Coffee will be available all day during the conference,
starting at 8:30am.
Near venue:
The Palais des congrès is surrounded by excellent dining. Within a 5-minute walk:
Chinatown (authentic Asian cuisine), Old Montréal (cafés &
bistros), and the Quartier International (upscale dining).
Popular restaurants:
Schwartz's Deli (smoked meat), La Banquise (poutine), Olive & Gourmando (brunch), Joe
Beef, Damas (Middle Eastern), Maison Boulud, Bouillon Bilk, and many more throughout the
Plateau and Mile End neighborhoods.
Montréal specialties:
Don't miss Montréal's iconic foods: poutine, smoked meat
sandwiches, bagels (from St-Viateur or Fairmount), and
sugar pie.
Weather & Local Information
Weather:
Montréal in August is warm and humid, with average highs of 26°C (79°F)
and lows of 17°C (63°F). Occasional thunderstorms are possible, so bringing
a light rain jacket is recommended. Sunscreen is also advisable.
